Grammatical Contraction

Some say “ain’t” is not a word at all,

but it’s actually a valid grammatical contraction

and while we’re on the topic, so is “y’all”

So the grammar police in these cases are wrong

spinning wild rhymes

For family, friends, and strangers alike

dropping poetry lines on a dime

They come so easily to his mind

when he’s gone he’ll leave his words behind

Like treasure for people to find

I understand the value in choosing what we say carefully

Everybody wants to know they’re understood clearly

but there is something honestly that’s always bothered me

People who like to criticize

& scrutinize literally every single little word

I’ve always thought doing so is a bit absurd

Bursting a dam in the mind,

setting crashing waves

of poetry free

That’s forever the life for me
