He’s had dark hours,

yeah more than a few

All it took was one point of light

to change his point of view

A poem about light conquering darkness.

Make It Out Alive

Each time he stepped out

on the battle field

He couldn’t catch his breath,

Normally things didn’t rattle him

but those days he was scared to death,

He was prepared for any sacrifice

but he kept asking himself,

“Will my new bride be a widow tonight,

or will I make it out alive”?

He knew he wasn’t the only one

with such thoughts weighing on his mind,

Soldiers thinking about families

that they left behind

The Bullet

John wore a spent silver bullet

suspended on a chain around his neck

His grandpa once gave it to him,

said “boy treat this w/respect”

Then the old man shared the story of

exactly how he’d come to possess it

He said he got it from a friend,a fellow soldier,

back during The Great War

and though he made it back,

His friend wasn’t around anymore
