Would It Have Made A Difference?

You put a round in a chamber

(of your heart)

It ripped through & left a hole,

ripped people’s world apart

and all through the night

try as they might, that heart

couldn’t be restarted

What drove you to it,

you never left a note that said,

did you think of the hearts you’d break

when they found you dead?

or did you just think nobody really Loved you?

Did you think life wasn’t fair?

Would it have made a difference,

if more people let you know they cared?

A Better Chapter of My Life

When I was a younger man,

I had considered suicide

but I know now, that if I had died

back then, there are so many blessings

I would have missed

I’m glad I didn’t rob myself of this

chapter of my life

Especially when I look into the eyes

of my son & my wife

My father said to me that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, that’s something I’ve kept in mind no matter how rough life may get. Every storm, every struggle eventually passes.

Saving Grace

He’s thinking of suicide
As the needle hits his vein
Sometimes it seems life’s beauty
Is outweighed by the pain

But then he hears a sweet whisper
despite the haze that’s hit his brain
The voice says
“let me help you, child
You’re going to be ok”

I wrote this back in May 2019

One caring person who reaches out to someone hurting may save a life.
