Don’t Kick The Downtrodden

It bothers me immensely when I see

those who are struggling, genuinely,

getting kicked around

when they’re already down

Don’t kick the downtrodden,

show a little compassion

is it too much to ask now?

Very Good Man

He’s pushing seventy now, but he’s still tough as nails

Never lets anyone treat him like he’s any kind of frail

& you can bet that if he sees something wrong

He’ll call it out strong, in the words of his songs

While many others were using music just to entertain

& amuse, he’s always taken a stand for the downtrodden,

for the broken, the abused

A tribute to a special fellow poet/lyricist, and a very good man
