In a place called Archer City
A dark & dirty deed went down
but the man who did it,
he was a big shot around town
So there are people who
don’t and won’t believe he did it,
even now
Even though a confession came straight
out of his mouth…
They claim his victim wanted money,
that that’s what the allegations were all about
All I can really say, is I’d hate to be
in his shoes on Judgment Day

People need to forsake the pursuit
of things like gluttony, lust & greed
Those things will tear you down,
and they’ll leave your soul empty,
I tell you this because I know
that truth sets people free

I once had a friend named Rick who always wrote about crimes
Things ripped from the headlines, he creeped me out at times
because the way he wrote was like he was trying to glorify
wicked people & reprobate minds and now you know,
why he’s no longer a friend of mine

Holding a grudge against somebody for their ancestors sins,
is just as bad as hating someone for the color of their skin
I know that truth bomb may burn some to hear but I’d say it again
Let reason prevail, & let brotherly Love win

In the stillness of the night
Something just didn’t feel quite right
She was out on the town again
Claiming she was out with friends
From late evening til two a.m.
When she finally came waltzing in
He asked point blank, “where you been, and don’t spin me a lie again”
Then she looked at him with tear filled eyes, she knew it was confession time
She said “I’ve been seeing another man, it’s been going on a while, and honestly the worst part is, he’s the father of “our” child”
He broke down and cried, when he heard her sins laid bare
He said “our boy is still mine, even if he came from your affair, because all this time, I’m the father who’s been there”

It’s always important for soul
searching reflection
& sometimes to make
changes and corrections
to get back going in the right direction
You might say “I am far from perfection”
but it’s no excuse for dereliction
