This is a “word portrait”,
is the best way I can describe it,
Envision in your mind,
A wolf with snow white fur
& flaming red orange eyes,
shining so bright
Stalking, walking,
along a river side
in the dead of night

Jeffery James was a rodeo man,
he wore a black felt western hat
When he was leaving out of Amarillo,
he rested his head against a greyhound glass window,
using his hat as a pillow
As he started drifting to dream, he heard a scream
“Look ma, is that a real cowboy?”, that shout gave him a start
that about stopped his heart, it had come from a wild eyed boy
His mama said “child, you quiet down now”
but Jeff couldn’t help but smile,
he told the boy about all his adventures
They got to talking for a good long while

Dusk falling down fast on the town of Big Spring
They’re freeing themselves of everything
That’s been holding them back from spreading
their wings,
They’re making a clean getaway
He’s got her heart,it makes him want to sing
& she’s got his & she’s wearing his ring
They’re both looking forward to
what their joint future will bring
Sure that it will be amazing

A young man sitting on a sidewalk bench,
talking to an old man who was drinking White Port wine,
The wino’s speech was kind of slurring, and it looked like he’d been crying,
He said:
“I wasn’t always like this, kid,
there were some years I really shined,
I’d give anything, if I could go back in time”
The young man took the bottle from him, took him by the hand
saying: “you can overcome this, you can be free again,
and if you’re willing to help yourself, I’ll help you any way I can”

Down in Lake Charles, Louisiana
Lives Eddy & his sweet Susanna
He originally came from Alabama
& she was raised in Texarkana
They met on a Greyhound bus in 2003
He was originally headed for Georgia,
her to Tennessee
They sat down together, talked for what seemed like forever
They found they were birds of a feather, & the rest is history

Jamie was walking home one night alone in the dark
he looked like an easy mark to some thug w/a blade
in Riverside park, but the thug soon found out
he was gravely mistaken…
When Jamie fought back the thug couldn’t take him
When it was all over the thug walked away shaking
The thug life is one error he won’t be making again
since Jamie taught him a lesson
