A kid @ the movies, it’s where he loved to spend his time,
Hours staring up @ that screen, soaking up every scene
They inspired his creativity,
Hanging w/his friends on a Saturday night
Then going for ice cream @ the Dairy Queen
Those sweet times sticking in his memories
Years later those memories coming out

My 34th year has kind of snuck up on me
It’ll be official in a couple weeks
I’ve got nearly three and a half decades
of life now to look back on
It’s like I just blinked & those years were gone

When he was young with restless energy
It was a special time indeed
He was living w/zeal and loving,
enjoying what it meant to be free
Anyone who knew him
knew he was living full throttle
He wishes he could have trapped
those times in a bottle
If he could go back to those glory days
There’s only one thing he might change
He’d have never let go of his old flame
when he was seventeen she moved away
wonders where she is today

I often think back on
hot Texas Summers of my youth,
Though as time passes,
some things people lose
sometimes,
I remember bike rides,
& barbecues, & swimming
in my friend’s family pool to keep cool
Us kids getting in all the fun we could
before we had to get back to school

Some of Janie’s favorite childhood memories
Were of riding bikes out in the street,
playing marbles, jacks, and cards,
catching fireflies at Twilight
with her brothers out in the yard
Eating s’mores & jamming
by campfires on guitars,
and drinking sweet root beer floats
from Mason jars
