Sacrifice

I’m thinking about

a coffin draped in an American flag

A fallen soldier & his widow in black

His children grieving over a father

they can’t bring back

Oh it breaks my heart, makes me so mad

That people who don’t have the first clue

about sacrifice like that

treat our heroes w/contempt

& our banner like a rag

Air Shows

I know I said I was calling it a day, I intended to. However, since I had a pretty relaxing few hours break, and since I’m feeling better/more energized I decided to get back to sharing already.

One of my favorite childhood things

Was watching Air Shows on the base

Some of the stunts would absolutely amaze

The pilots handled the planes with such grace

Brother Soldiers

When he turned 18,

In some ways he was still a boy,

but he was also a newly minted man

Answering Uncle Sam’s command,

He was shipped off to a foreign land

His uniform & boots were soon covered

in blood,sweat & sand

He felt it was a noble calling to serve his country

so he took that stand…

War changed him in a way some people will never

understand, but he’s glad his brother soldiers can

They were truly a band of heroes
