When Joe E. was a young man
He looked like early spry
Johnny Cash
He’s done some hard living
but these days he knows better than that
Roads are hard, lessons learned
He’s played w/fire & he’s been burned
Oh, he still plays the music
& tells the stories in his songs
but he’s put away the childish things
Wishes he had all along

The older I get, the less I’m in the mood
for nonsense & drama
There’s a time to put away childish things,
I was taught that long ago by my daddy & mama
Given that I’m thirty three, I expect maturity
but it seems to be a problem for many

the values I was raised on
As for being a man, each day
I try to be a better one
I want to always be
a good example
for my own son

neither is anyone
