Raging Tides of Sinking Sand

He’s wrapped tight

in the life jacket of her Love

It fits snug, so perfect like a glove

To him it feels just like a hug

He knows that without her

To grab him by the hand

He would be fighting alone

Against raging tides

of sinking sand

They’re in it together,

from beginning to end

Husband & wife,

Partners, truly best friends

New Poem

Each Friday evening, he puts on his silver cowboy tie

with a button down dress shirt & his jet black Levi’s

Then he puts on his Stetson hat & polishes his boots until they shine

His wife is known for saying that he cleans up real fine

There is a reason why he dresses to the nines

He takes his wife out dancing, they stay there til closing time

It’s their weekly tradition, to reconnect & unwind

Velvet & Stone

As a child, Daddy’s hands reminded me of both velvet & stone…

They were gentle & comforting when I needed them to be

but they could be hard on me when I’d done wrong

His balance of firm discipline and Love, tenderness and tough

Helped to guide my way, the way that he raised me

Has really shaped in many ways who I am today

Love Story

People in their town always claimed

he came from the wrong side of the tracks,

and that they would surely never last

but she just knew she Loved him & he Loved her back

and they both had faith they could build a life on that

Despite those that thought their Love would go wrong

It’s 40 years on, and they’re still going strong

Grandpa Don

Some people hate the smell of diesel

but I’ll tell you that for me,

it brings back some

of my sweetest memories

My grandpa Donald was a trucker

as far back as my mind’s eye can see

Anyone will tell you

That he was the greatest to me

The lessons & the Love he gave

Are a precious legacy

Though he is passed away

They will live on in me
