Tommy spent nine months

in the deepest darkest pit

of his existence

& when he finally came out of it,

he’d had an epiphany

began to see things differently

became the man that he was meant to be

Inspired by a true story of a guy who was on the brink of death & destruction, but who survived to tell the tale & his life was turned around. His testimony really grabbed me.

Anyone could end up in the break down lane

Feeling stressed & strained like they’re going insane

Thinking their efforts are as futile

As launching a paper plane in a hurricane

but you know what? Despite life’s pain

It’s not empty, not futile, not in vain

Every morning when we rise again

There is mercy, there is hope, there is Love

and that is enough

Courage & Strength

I heard a song today that shook me to my heart & soul

The singer was a man dealing w/loss

though I could sense his heart break

& it seemed like more than he could take

He still held tightly to his faith,

I’ve got to say, I could totally relate

It stuns, when a song hits you

in a deeply personal way

I’m glad he had the courage & strength

Even in the midst of his pain

To put the song’s words to the page

I sincerely think that through it

Lives will be changed

Fighting Toward The Light

Coal miners fighting their way out of a collapsed mine

Hoping against hope they’d get out in time

though at first that pit was dark as night,

they dug & dug ever toward sunlight

When it was all said & done,

they made it out alive,

Every one
