Healed Heart

He remembers how when he was a younger man,

he’d had a heart of stone, he did all that he could

to keep people at arm’s length,

he thought letting them in

just wasn’t worth it, the price that he would pay

if in the end, they never stayed anyway

but then one day, real love it came,

in fact, it wouldn’t leave him alone

It changed him & it healed him

when it made his heart it’s home

Crying Out

Earlier, I stumbled across some poetry

Deep & dark as raven’s wings

that just seemed to scream “read me”

I didn’t go seeking it specifically

Driven by any morbid curiosity

but it had elements & feelings

deeply familiar to me,

Like anguish & grief

I could totally understand it all

It felt like the writer was in a place

That not long ago, I used to be

Crying out for healing

Longing to be free
