Come Together

All the bitter rage in America these days

It’s enough to make a grown man cry

I say we can do better,

If we come together,

rooting out corruption

anywhere it hides,

and quit letting petty

things divide,

some people want to give up the fight

but giving up wouldn’t be right

If we did, how could we sleep at night?

Crying Out

Earlier, I stumbled across some poetry

Deep & dark as raven’s wings

that just seemed to scream “read me”

I didn’t go seeking it specifically

Driven by any morbid curiosity

but it had elements & feelings

deeply familiar to me,

Like anguish & grief

I could totally understand it all

It felt like the writer was in a place

That not long ago, I used to be

Crying out for healing

Longing to be free
