Julie ran into Jack today,
outside a small cafe
long ago she’d moved away,
something they’d both hated
but now she was back again
There was a time,
they both remembered when
they were inseparable,
the best of friends
As they looked into each others faces
there were things there time can’t erase

or closer even
They encouraged each other
to always go for the win
For all their adult years
Their friendship was set,
from the moment they met
they were thick as thieves

I remember a man who I called a friend
He gave me a guitar w/nylon strings
because he knew I played
I lost the guitar years ago,
and that loss is a shame
but even worse is I couldn’t tell you
how the man’s doing these days
Life moved on and we lost touch,
sometimes I guess that’s just life’s way

Went to the Atlantic coast to see old friends
& they raised a toast to him
said “Buddy welcome home again,
It’s been too long & you were so missed”
being back at last was perfect bliss
especially with friends like his

I have found that loyalty is a rarity these days
but when you find people who are loyal,
it sets the heart ablaze
with happiness that amazes,
I don’t need a lot of so called friends,
Just to know that my precious few
are true

I’m kind of getting a late start to sharing here today. Apologies for that.
One day you find yourself out in terrible heat,
looking for a shade tree
“Come now, and sit with me”
a stranger calls invitingly
Then you talk just like old friends
and when the conversation ends
you realize they’ve brightened up your day
with their hospitality

The leaves on the trees are already showing
the Autumn hues
The air’s getting cooler but Jimmy &
Johnny are still running around without any shoes
They’re a rambunctious pair, it’s fair to say
Wild & crazy they love to play, like children do
Jimmy & Johnny stay outside until dark,
until they see street lights,
playing like they do really works up
a monstrous appetite
By then, John’s mama is yelling:
“it’s dinnertime, come in & get washed up”
they both rush home to scarf it down,
like they just can’t get enough

Simply good hearts & people who’ll be there

We don’t have to think alike,
You can have your views & I’ll have mine
we’ll respect each other and we’ll get along fine

It can be hard to trust
when people say, they love you
& they’re your friend
but occasionally you find people
who are genuine
