Firelight Dance

A young couple staying in safe

from harsh winter snow

dances together and time seems to slow

They enjoy the warmth of firelight as it glows

& they hold each other close

Nickel In A Jukebox

Judy put a nickel in a jukebox

Grabbed Buddy by the hand

Said:

“What are you waiting for,

get your dance on, man”

Buddy wasn’t the best dancer,

that’s something everybody knew

but Judy’s energy was infectious,

her smile lit up the room,

Buddy didn’t want to hurt her feelings,

He said, “I’d do anything for you”

so they danced til the night was through

Dance

Juanita said she wanted Gabriel to take her to a picture show

Gabriel said he had another idea, he put music on the stereo

then waltzed her around their parlor nice & slow,

& before long she’d forgotten all about the picture show

The smile on her face was so bright it nearly glowed

Gabriel wasn’t always great w/romance,

but he knew Juanita could never turn down a dance

She’d do it every day if she got the chance

Gypsy Queen

He was the son of carnival folk,

all who knew him said he hardly spoke

but all that changed when she came along,

A true gypsy queen playing her charming song

They were both wild, loved to move their feet

They talked & danced together to their own drum beat

He told her, “girl, I’ve never felt more free”

She said, “You always will be, if you stick with me”

New Poem

Each Friday evening, he puts on his silver cowboy tie

with a button down dress shirt & his jet black Levi’s

Then he puts on his Stetson hat & polishes his boots until they shine

His wife is known for saying that he cleans up real fine

There is a reason why he dresses to the nines

He takes his wife out dancing, they stay there til closing time

It’s their weekly tradition, to reconnect & unwind
