Ballad of A Banjo Picking Man

An old mountain banjo,

it makes a lonesome mournful sound

Like few things else anyone ever heard

If you’ve never listened to one played

Trying to explain it would be absurd

He loved to pick and sing until one evening

he had to lay it down,

he went to the parlor to rest,

thought it was for the best

Soon after, they were putting him in the ground

A Tribute To Ralph Stanley

Ralph Stanley didn’t set out to achieve fortune or fame

but by the time he left this world, his was a household name

Ralph was among the greats, he was a true bluegrass king

Everybody was amazed when they heard him play & sing

His voice it really stood out w/that high lonesome tenor ring

The music that he left behind is a precious legacy

If I would’ve gotten to meet him it would have meant the world to me
