As we reflect back
on everything from this year
It has been a rough one,
people all over have had stresses,
fears, and tears
Nonetheless,
there have been blessings too,
Look to our Maker,
who makes all things new
Cast your cares upon Him
He forever cares for you

but despite the fact life’s not always
the picture of our ideal,
& there may be dark hours,

It can be so easy, focusing only on the tragedies
but let’s not forget the beautiful blessings
Everyone could use reminders now & then
A kind smile from a stranger, a loving hug from a friend

Recently, my wife, son, and I
Were eating in a cafe
When we finished,
much to our surprise
We learned there was no bill to pay
Someone else had covered it,
Such a sweet blessing,
but I’m still not sure who our angel was that day

I’m so glad my life’s not
just been shaped
by the stuff that haunts me,
though that stuff certainly
sticks vividly in my memory,
I’m glad that I can still find the good
and see that overall,
this life’s a blessing

So much has happened to me
In my thirty three years,
I have felt a lot of sorrow
I have cried rivers of tears
but I still believe in mercy
and I hold on to my faith
I still recognize the blessings
& I’m thankful every day

I also know miracles & grace
