Authentic Artistry: One Last Tribute To John R. Cash

John, oh, John,

I wish you were still here,

my poet brother

I think I’ve listened to

& studied your work

more than all the others

When you raised your voice to sing

One of the things that most stood out to me

Was your brilliant authenticity,

It was big, beautiful, bold & loud,

& especially inspiring how

your passion moved a crowd

Buddy loved to play guitar, his fingers moved lightning fast,

every time he stepped out, he & the audience had a blast

He played every show like it’d be his last

The audience loved his heart, his fire, his passion

and that he never cared about

what genre was the latest fashion

He just loved music for music sake

Buddy was authentic, in a sea of fakes

Cowboy Poet

This is a tribute, to late cowboy poet

Chris Ledoux & if I’m being honest,

it’s a long time overdue,

He’s one of the best all around artists

That this world ever knew

If he were around today,

He’d surely have a few

words of wisdom for me & you

I think he’d tell people,

“be authentic, in everything you do”
