Breathtaking

Listening to the whine of that old blues harp,

oh you play so well, my brother

So much heart & so much soul,

When one tune ends

I can’t wait for another

You make it sound so bittersweet

Get people rising to their feet

Dancing so happy & free

Your playing really is

breathtaking to me

Old Mac

Old Mac, old buddy, you’re looking quite gray

I remember the red hair you had back in the day

It really stood out, looked like

a hot raging flame

but beyond that, you stood out

for so many other things

like the poems and music you wrote

& how your fingers danced so beautifully

across a great multitude of guitar strings

& how you kept a firm grip on the sweet

down home way you were raised

“Live Your Story” Alternate Title: Broken Star

Old T.M., all dressed in black,

w/his old guitar & a derby hat

he looked rough & ragged, that’s a fact

& his voice sounded more than a little cracked

but he lifted up his voice to sing

to all the souls who’d hear it ring

to let them know there were no limits

to how big they could dream

He said:

“You know, I’ve been where some of you are, been a little frazzled, got some battle scars, but all in all, I’m alright, I’ve never lost my will to fight, I may be a broken star, but haven’t lost my shine, go live your story like I have mine”
