Shine

I’ve got a dear sweet friend heavy on my mind,

though she’s left this world behind,

she’s still a profound part of mine,

in my memory she’ll forever shine.

(A tribute to one of the best friends I ever had)

Paradise

Andrew loves to go hiking every summer,

up through a high mountain pass,

and to go camping down near a river where

the water’s clear as polished glass

He loves to dig his toes down into wet soft beds of clay, and if anybody were to ask

He would surely say it’s paradise

He wouldn’t have it any other way

A Decade Along, Still Going Strong

Ten years married together and they’re still going strong, all the good times are on their minds more than the times that have gone wrong

He still loves to hold her while they relax late each night, to see the smile on her face, and their future’s looking bright

The family they’ve built together, they wouldn’t trade for all the world, it’s worth more than all that glitters, it’s more precious than diamonds or pearls.

Seattle On A Saturday

Jordan hit Seattle on a Saturday,

even though he lived a few hours away

he needed the break

from the week he’d had anyway

he met up with friends,

& they let him stay and rest up

w/them for a while…

The good times he had with them

brought fresh light to his smile

He said:

“Let’s do this again soon, okay?

when I’m headed back again this way,

& don’t worry about the coffee, I’ll pay,

you all really made my day”

So Much More

Janie used to dream heavily of Hollywood,

always wanted to be a star

when she was just seventeen, she loaded up her car

Headed out to Cali, where they said all the big names are

but all these years later, her priorities have changed

as they tend to do, they say wisdom comes with age

she still loves to perform, believes there’s nothing

wrong with such a thing,

but also knows there’s so much more

to life than the stage and fleeting fame
