Heart-Worn Highway

He’d been going down the heart-worn highway

For what seemed like half his life

His weary soul, ever searching,

never quite satisfied

Then he met a girl, down in Montgomery

She waved his rig down & asked him for a ride

They talked, she told her story,

as they drove on through

the night, then it occurred to him

“She’s got a soul like mine”

They got to know each other better

& today, she is his wife
